Недалеко от моря (not far from the sea)
I stepped out into brilliant sunshine this morning - surprisingly warm given the early hour - yet it's heat was tempered by a strong, chilly breeze; a perfect contrast making for a perfect balance. It was an instant mood lifter, reminding me all-at-once of an evening spent by the Skybar at the Mondrian, Los Angeles, following a great meal at Asia de Cuba; of the disarmingly cold winds that sweep the tops of even the sunniest tropical moutains; of Sausolito and Marin, my unlikely birthplace, awash with the onshore breezes of the Pacific.
For a moment, I was on some grand holiday all over again.
Course, my freezer is full of fruit now (of the plant kind, I'm not stockpiling gay men's body parts) - nice suggestions people - who'd want to be anywhere else? Ha.
EDIT: The heading text is in Russian (UTF-8 encoded); all OS X browsers should display it correctly, as should IE Win XP and 2000, but if your browser is culturally inept and doesn't support it, it'll probably come up looking like Klingon. If that is the case, I'd love to know about it.

Trying to decipher the Cyrillic. One letter I'm not sure about: the fourth one in the first word. Otherwise, so far I've got: "Neda_eko ot morja". (Or "morya", I suppose it would be in that funny way they write Russian in English.) I know the 'ne-' prefix is negative, and the 'ot' is similar enough to 'od' in Czech, and the word for 'sea' is pan-Slavonic (with differences in case endings, of course). It's just the fourth letter I can't get, but I have a funny feeling it might be 'l', making 'far' 'dalek'!!! But as I thought 'l' was lambda, maybe it's 'lj'? That would be a pity, though, as 'daljek' doesn't have the same Dr Who thing going on!
Spot on; nyedaleko ot morya - ti gavarish pa russki? It's much better written in Cyrillic - this was one of the things that crushed me in Poland; while I could read the script after a day or two of practice, it would have been so much easier in cyrillic! Still in the lab; bleurgh, unreasonable - let the weekend roll on!
heh heh...stumbled on yor site looking for an OSX copy of Ingemar's "Daleks" game, which I know is out there, but can't seem to come up with right now. My eye was caught by the русский язык. 'fraid I've gotten spoiled by the translit keyboard though, and am having a hard time find my way back to the old soviet config that is standard in OSX.
Gavin, I suppose that makes sense! - Недалеко - not quite what you were after, no :) I've not used either config with any frequency, but am more comfortable with the latter simply because it's the only kind that I had access to here when I was studying Russian.
Difficult, either way!
I found your site using Google in Russian, searching for Klingon язык. I'm trying to find Klingon-speaking or at least Klingon-studying Russian speakers.
Sadly, Klingon still isn't in Unicode, so I have to use the latinized version.
