living in underwear
This week was going to be warm, according to the forecasts. As of this evening, the forecast has changed for the better; we'll be warmer than Singapore, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Kinshasa, Addis Ababa, and Miami, with four days scheduled for 34 C (93 F), but cooler than Rome (40 C, 104 F) Paris (39 C, 102 F), Riyadh (45 C, 113 F), and Beijing (35 C, 95 F).
Crikey, we need to buy thongs and string vests people. Unfortunately my djellabya (long, loose, hooded garment with full sleeves, worn especially in Muslim countries) is tucked away at the family home - those things really are cooler than Western attempts at airy clothing, but I don't think the fashion will likely catch on. Brace yourselves.

There you go all Muslimy again... I'm really curious, are you still religious, or very much lapsed? (It's not so much a contradiction, I have a VERY Christian gay friend). How does it correlate with your sexual identity? How does your family feel about it? Do they even know?
I'm sorry if it seems like I'm prying, but I'm very curious about your background. You seem to come from all over and then some. And as you know, I am the proud owner of an absurd amount of curiosity... though most of it is the unhealthy kind...
...
Footnote: Not as a criticism ... well okay, maybe it is... but your about page doesn't really help. ;)
Criticism is irrelevant; everything here is premeditated.
The 'net is a public place; just because I have an online journal-of-sorts doesn't mean I have to lay myself bare (not to suggest that you think I should, just a point of fact). I may trust some of the folk who visit the site, but I can't control who else reads it; my email address is plainly available to this end.
So noted. However, I don't have your email address and I do not use either AIM (blegh) or iChat (too poor to be an apple user I'm afraid). I can't seem to find your email on your site... ;P Sorry old chap.
It has receded into the archives; I'll put it on the index when I have the presence of mind to do so. Otherwise, it appears below, in all its logical glory.
On your note of high temps, I can certainly relate to your disdain for the heat. Although I've grown up here in the Southwestern United States (New Mexico), I find that my patience for our heat is growing less and less each year. Couple that with our near-drought conditions I'm sure you can see where I'm coming from on this subject. Ugh. Stay cool, Alastair.
My bad: perhaps I read too much into your post. Maybe I was projecting my dislike for the heat. My apologies. ;-)
No worries, Corin, but quite so, I actually do love hot weather, the best of which I've encountered in Morocco, Dubai, New Orleans and South Asia. The first three all topped 40 C (104 F), but Morocco and Dubai were very dry, so it was nothing; NOLA, on the other hand was crazy, with 80 - 100 % humidity depending on where you were, and of course, the time of day. Killer.
That said, I wouldn't forego any of the above; the food is too good to miss!
What stays down, can come up - with a little help from Pfizer.
O.o Looks like the spam bots are at it again. :p I think it's time you did an IP address ban.
Alas, the IP ban is a futile gesture; when I have a moment, the MT blacklist plugin might be worth having a look at. This bit of spam is very diverse compared to the last one :)
