a parigi

I can't believe how quiet you're being! You take the trouble to pull together your own template, graphics, bits of code, present it all to the world, attract an audience with measure upon measure of tantalising vacuousness and then... go silent?

Actually, yes.

...

Don't look at me - I'm not the one with the problem.

But!

Boring.

That said, I'm here now; I was just sent a picture of my sis' by a girlfriend in Paris, who found her face mounted on a bus shelter.

What we'd really like is one of these posters in Japanese, Russian, Scandic, Arabic or Greek. Bus shelter size, please. No? Didn't think so. Minor fixation with foreign alphabets, is all.

I think I saw one in Chinese here awhile ago or something... Will look into some criminal activity. ;)

Apologies if I've misinterpreted you (which I probably have), but are you saying your sister is *l*i*ha *o*i*s*n?

Stairs said:

I considered that perhaps that post was a foolish one to make, but yeah, pretty much. Took the rare step of editing your comment to keep Google away from me; this space has nothing to do with her.

Sorry for inadvertently bringing attention to it.

So... belacan, I guess I'd better nip off and give it a try; I'll let you know how it goes!

ksquare said:

Here's a curious question, how come your sister ended up with the arabic sounding name and you ended up with the scottish one? :)

Alan - You'll like belacan if you like spicy food. Not all foreigners like the smell though...

Stairs said:

Not at all - I was the one who made the reference to start with :) Belacan is often sold under a different name in this country as it's usually geared towards those cooking Thai food; shrimp paste should suffice in an Asian food store - if you do get that far. As Ks says, it can smell something nasty at first, but it turns wonderful in no time. Just keep the kitchen door shut and the extractor fan on high.

Erm... we're both instances of a mother saving her kids from a father with bad taste in child nomenclature. Z was named after Z Dobson, and I was named after F. Scott Fitzgerald. I'll leave you to work that one out... ;)

Alessandra said:

That's your sister? Whoa. Didn't know that :)

ksquare said:

You were named after F Scott Fitzgerald? O.o

In what dimension? Dammit, you gave me a headache. :\

Do you go by your middle name, then? That would mean you had a first name starting with an F, S or K. Just a guess, trying to work out this most bizarre revelation about who you were named after!
