system update

If you believe that Pluto is a planet - and rest assured that this is contested to the day - then we have another addition to Solar system, an icy blob called Sedna. Welcome!

"Hey everyone, my name's Sedna and I'm an alcoho..."

If not, then we just have ourselves an extraordinarily large KBO with an exceptionally large heliocentric orbit. Excitement. More relevant to me is my new Seagate hard disc; just installed on top of the IBM drive that originally shipped with my baby (Apple doesn't just do computers); works a charm, and ohso quietly zippy. How long does a hundred and sixty gigs last these days anyway?

I got forty gigs and they seem incredibly tiny to me and my download madness.

Welcome Sedna, hope you're here to stay.

about ten seconds. especially if you have the same por -erm- porcelain, yeah, porcelain obsession that I have.

Umm... drat.

So they have a new one. Big deal. When I grow up. I will make myself the 11th planet.

Yes, my last was 60 Gb and that went down pretty quickly, especially because of my digital photo and music libraries, but this should fill the gap between now and the next computer a few years on.

Jalal, that's a lot of paratha you're going to have to eat.

And it is with great embarrassment that I own to collecting no porcelain of any kind.

ksquare said:

That is easily rectified, I'm always willing to share. Everyone needs some good porcelain to look at. ;)

Do most people have porcelain? Damn, I don't have any, either! Must be a freak.

Caught up at long last on the last few weeks. What? You flew off to California for a while? So many questions to ask... At least you could get on the Internet using Macs; I had to suffer the indignity of a number of dodgy Windows things across Europe. My, the difference is now so noticeable for me. Why would anyone use a PC?!!!

Always considerate, but I'll pass on that one; the plants in the nearby botanic garden are excitement enough... and it's early Spring, so the geophytes are doing their flamboyant start-of-season thing with their sex organs.

Mr. D; sounds like you had a great time too - happy to answer your questions; I've been a little erratic on iChat, but if you see me available, give me a ping - we can both manage video now, and I've only ever done one-way video chats, so that would be novel. Plus I get to learn about Scandinavia again! Thanks for the link in your last post.

"Available on iChat" - that would be when there's a green dot, right? ;-) 'Ave you now got also zis iSight-sing? Oh, a very one-sided view of bits of Scandiland, I have to admit. Plenty more photos of yellow and red houses coming up soon!
