holiday
Today, the United Kingdom enjoyed a Bank Holiday. Today, I enjoyed work. A fool's take on deductive reasoning would have you believe that were I enjoying a Bank Holiday too, I would be the United Kingdom, but i) the only fool here isn't into playing smartass with his public, and ii) human rights aside, only in some parallel hell dimension could 45 000 people plausibly enter me on a daily basis [assuming a good year for tourism] [and the sex industry] [with which I share no affiliation whatsoever].
Said tourism is off to a great start with the arrival of an old friend, also New York's most depraved, on our turf today -- have a good stay, Frank and Phil -- I promised you bad weather, and so far so good, though this evening, we clearly have sun:

I have reason to believe Stairs is alive and well -- guess he's just busy-like. He was hosting overseas bloggers at the start of the week, so probably has to make up for lost time workwise.
Our Internet papparazzi briefly spotted him at walkytalky.net. No word on what happened to the pineapple though. Mmm... pineapple.

This must be one of my longest non-participatory comment threads ever! Appreciate the kind nonsense, but extra points go to David for the most bizarre misdiagnosis ever; it did make me smile, because I'm all about water-borne diseases, but I've never seen cholera look quite like, well, that! Carefully choreographed vitiligo, perhaps?

I only know about vitiligo because i) a girlfriend had it, and ii) Michael Jackson does too, if the skin-bleaching stories are to be ignored.

Not to my knowledge. I had no actual reason to suspect cholera, of course. However, since your "Carefully choreographed vitiligo" suggestion, I haven't been able to look at that photo in the same way! My brain refuses to process it as it did before vitiligo was mentioned!
