If you had a voucher for a free flight on a national carrier to one of the following destinations, which one would you choose, and why?

Palma | Milan | Amsterdam | Barcelona | Brussels Dublin | Faro | Madrid | Malaga | Paris

Like many people who bought Christmas gifts at Virgin last year, this is the dilemma that faces me, and it expires in five months. No free accomodation at any of the destinations except, perhaps, Paris - but that has been done a squillion times over - so the rest of the field is pretty even.

Hmm...

Faro, and I'd choose it to be in a couple of weeks from now. (Euro 2004, of course!)

Actually, do you have the option to exchange it for a trip to Copenhagen instead?

Milan... went there last summer for a whirlwind trip with my mom. They should have finished renovating the Cathedral by now so it probably is even better. If you get the chance, catch the train from Milan, to this little town called Como [sic?] on the shore of one of the big lakes around there. It's not very expensive to stay, but beware of allowing the concierge to post your postcards - he didn't send mine until almost a week after I left Milan!

Barcelona - and stay in the old city. I enjoyed a brief trip there for a conference and really want to go back. Gaudi. See all of it. La Sagrada Familia - breathtaking building - this is a modern wonder of the world. I'd also like to rent a car and drive north to see Catalunya.

Malaga! I don't know where it is but it sounds so exotic.

malaga is in spain.

And perhaps not as exotic as it sounds.

I'd probably go to the most ordinarily inaccessible place (if there was one that usually was more expensive to reach)... if they're all more or less equal though, I'd have to pick Milan -- I've never been to Italy -- or Barcelona -- I've never been to Spain either, but friends of mine went to a conference there in September and absolutely raved about it. (This lack of travel to the Continent is going to get corrected in short order.)

Tsk, Adam, I thought you might have offered to host :)

Once the renovations are complete I'll put up a general invite on my blog ;-)

At least some people were considerate enough to spare my query a moment's thought ;)

To be fair, it's a bloody long way to Adamville from any of the mainland Spanish cities listed. To be fair.

Of course, I'm still all torn up on the inside, but at least I won't have to fend off his excessive manliness; from what I've read, he probably even has his own tool belt.

I can't believe the lovely international hot-spot Cleveland, OH is not an option for Virgin vacation destinations. Too bad.

Stairs - I am in the same dilema....I have one of those Virgin vouchers as well that's just been sitting on my desk for ages. I am leaning more towards Amsterdam or Milan...

Screw it all and just come to Tucson.

Ummm...on your way to see Jim in Tucson, just pop on by Albuquerque. It's soooo close, you know!

Since you asked. Dublin would be the best choice in my book, especially in late summer. Some pretty spectacular things happen at the end of summer in the northern climes.
