Gah. Forgot that was out today. Must resist urge to scour London for a copy right now.

Nice and warm on Sunday :)

You just want to tell us all that your widget is hot! ;-)

Will do the Tiger thing once I'm sober. What's already worrying me, though, is this: I presume that after Tiger it can only be Lion. And then what? 'Water buffalo' just doesn't do it for me!

Darn you... we have 27° here in Italy already... hate this weather, send me some british downpour!

Stairs said:

Che pazza che sei! :)

I will use the strongest magic I have, but it will only work if you try to send us your weather in return.

My Powerbook is only a couple months old. Should I tiger-ize it?

Stairs said:

Hey Bobbie. I think the biggest downside to not Tiger-ising is getting left behind in the update stakes; it's not exactly cheap, but there are some nice features in the new OS that I'm very happy with as a Geek.
That said, there is some universal appeal in there too, and on the whole things seem to run a little faster. Updating might not be urgent, and will mean that any immediate issues can be ironed out before you jump onboard, though I've had no problems yet (and no application 'breaks').

Of course :) Sending some sun from Italy... *magic wand*

I like the idea of Widgets but some of them are a bit pointless...

My favourites are the UK Train Timetable, Dictionary and Encyclopedia Britanicca look up :)

What do you think about Tiger?

Stairs said:

Agreed; the default set wasn't too impressive. Looking at what I have running as of this moment; UK train timetable, Dictionary, weather for Cambridge, Wikipedia lookup, world clocks for Kuala Lumpur and Los Angeles (family members). The latter is more luxury than of real good use (since I can add and subtract reasonably well).

It helps that I get Tiger at a discount, but I'm not big on having to pay for these gimmicky types of additions to operating systems, useful as they are. What is important is that it's all now 64-bit native, with many other unseen bells and whistles, and it's good news to those people who have G5 hardware. I don't, but it has increased the cruising speed of my G4 733 on many fronts, and I'm not yet going to be left behind!
